JCR/Honda Race Report May 10th, 2015 Round #6 GNCC - Tomahawk - Odessa, New York - Seneca Highland Course

JCR/Honda's Chris Bach plays spoiler to the perfect season and snags a win at the inaugural Tomahawk GNCC.

Today's race was laid out over the green rolling hills of western New York State. The course was 10-miles of grass tracks, root infested wooded off- chamber tracks and littered with razor sharp slate rocks. The lap times ranged from 28-30 minutes for a total of 6 laps by the leaders. Dust was a big factor, and the start that Chris Bach laid down was not what he hoped for. Going into the woods in 13th place, but by the end of the first lap Chris had already started to pass his way through the field. As he slid through the the "Hot Pits" he was in 7th. The following lap of the brutal course had started to chip away at those not as prepared for the condition, which moved Chris to 6th soon after the pit. By the end of the third lap the charging Red Rider pitted for fuel, fresh goggles, a sip of RynoPower nutrition and left the pits in second overall. Half way through the 4th lap he found his way to the front, and started to lead the field on his JCR/Honda CRF450R. He battled with the current points leader as the two fought for the lead position on the track. Chris would finally set his CRF450R firmly in the leader spot on the fifth lap and extend his lead to over a minute at the end of the 6th and final lap of the near, 3 hour event. Chris attributed his first ever GNCC overall win to his team and his sponsors, humbly stating "he stuck to the team plan and rode his motorcycle" On the podium it was all gratitude for his Dale Cooke prepared CRF450R.

"We made a few minor updates to the bike on Saturday and it proved to work for Sunday's 3 hour mayhem in the woods. Chris rode a smart race, the Team, Eric- Cookie and Danielle really put in a solid effort. The pits and bike were top-notch. It's been a steep learning curve going from Baja to GNCC, but this win proves we can win and we are on the right track. We won this battle today, but we will have to return in a couple weeks to fight again. Special thanks to Eric Siraton for his specialized knowledge of tuning, and Cookie for impeccable bike prep." -- Johnny Campbell
