Preston Campbell WINS the Inaugural California 300 Motorcycle Race!

Oct 9th, 2023

This past weekend, UNLTD Off-Road Racing, promoters of the famous "Mint 400", launched a Motorcycle Class for the 2nd annual "California 300".

Johnny Campbell was tapped to design a Motorcycle course that was challenging but fun and safe through the tough Barstow Terrain. Johnny laid out a 67-mile loop featuring high speed as well as tight single-track sections that racers would circle three times.

JCR/Honda's Preston Campbell took on the challenge, riding solo on his Gage Day-prepared CRF450X. Campbell, growing up racing and riding in the desert, is certainly no rookie. Son of Johnny Campbell, who made his name and captured generations of fans as a long-distance desert specialist. Preston took this opportunity to try on his father's footsteps; clearly, it was a perfect fit. Preston took to the race methodically and ripped three consistent laps, separating himself from the competition. Preston took the checkered flag with a total race time of 4 hours, 21 minutes, and 22 seconds, over 21 minutes ahead of the next competitor.

"There has not been a long-distance Off-Road race of this caliber in the area since SCORE International hosted the "Fireworks 250" in the '80s and '90s, so we are very excited to see this race come to life. The desert around Barstow, California, boasts an extensive history in Off-Road racing. Playing host to world-renowned races like the "Barstow to Vegas" and the aforementioned "Fireworks 250" makes this a historic destination. The Martelli Bros and the UNLTD Off-Road Racing organization have the ingredients to build the California 300 into the record books alongside these iconic Barstow races. This was Preston's first long-distance race, and he liked it. We are excited to see what the 2024 race calendar brings his way!" -Johnny Campbell
