JCR/Honda's Kendall Norman wins the 2010 rebirth of the famed Catalina GP!

Dec 10th, 2010

With combined efforts from the District 37 Big 6 Grand Prix clubs, the city of Avalon and many others, made possible the seemingly impossible task of bringing this unique event back to life. The Catalina GP hadn’t taken place since 1958. 52 years later, the small Island off the coast of Long Beach, California once again was the setting of this picturesque, historic event and had capital COOL written all over it. The course included several miles of the original fire roads and trails that surrounded the tiny, tourist destination of Avalon, with a total distance of 5 miles in length. In Sunday afternoon’s premier 2 hour race the flag dropped and Kendall Norman yanked the Holeshot on his Honda CRF450X. The battle for the lead was tough, with the lead changing hands multiple times. Kendall and the mighty CRF450X once again proved their unmatched durability and dependability as many competitors were forced to retire from the race early. Congratulations to Kendall and his crew for bringing home the win for JCR/Honda!

"This race was so much fun and to be a part of such a historical race 52 years later is as awesome as ever. The track was amazing I can’t believe how excited all the fans were. I am already looking forward to next year. Big thanks to Steele & Kim Bowyer and SD for coordinating our efforts for this amazing event". -- Johnny Campbell
