JCR/Honda racers extend Championship points lead with Double Wins at Glen Helen NGPC!

Mar 4th, 2019

JCR/Honda had a great weekend at Glen Helen, with Trevor Stewart and Tarah Gieger taking wins in their respective classes. Preston pushed through an injured shoulder to a respectable 6th in Pro2. Despite the wet conditions, ridership was still very strong at 1390 entries for the weekend.

Race Details: Sunday's NGPC was held at Glen Helen Raceway, hosted by the Prairie Dogs MC. Always a favorite for the series. The club does an extraordinary job laying out a course that includes all the great terrain necessary for a real GP. Including the National MX course, REM course, surrounding ridge tops, tight canyons, RIVERS, rocks, the short course truck track, and the paved section through the Glen Helen Pavilion. After two solid days of rain, the course was saturated. Pro race Sunday afternoon shaped up pretty well, due to the hard work of the club and mother nature letting up a bit on Sunday.

Trevor Stewart got off to a great start with a massive, 2- bike length holeshot on his Gage Day tuned CRF450RX and lead the pack going out to the pavilion. A mishap in the slick paved section cost him a few positions. Regrouping, he remounted in 4th, charging back to the lead pack. The JCR/Honda crew set up a strategic early pit. Refreshed with new 100% goggles, VP racing fuel, and a quick throttle tube repair, he set out to regain the lead. Trevor continued his push and took the lead with 4 laps remaining. At the finish, he would have nearly a minute lead over the nearest competition. Trevor extended his Championship points and will carry the red plate into round 4.

Preston Campbell set out in the Pro2 division with a top 5 start. Preston was able to stay consistent during the slippery event, finally finishing in 6th place Pro2 nursing an earlier injury.

Tarah Gieger ripped it on her JCR/Honda CRF250RX, having a solid second place start and quickly gaining the lead on lap one. Tarah continued nearly a flawless race once in the lead. She raced to a dominant win for the JCR/Honda Team in the women's Pro division. Tarah extended her Championship points lead as well and will carry her #68 red plate to the next round in 29 Palms, California - April 7th.
