JCR/Honda's Trevor Stewart Clinches the 2018 AMA BIG 6 WCGP Championship aboard his Gage Day prepped CRF450RX!

Dec 12th, 2018

The final GP of 2018 is always amazing on many levels, and this past weekend was no exception with epic race weather and Lake Havasu as the backdrop didn't disappoint either. Coming into the final GP of 2018, Trevor had built a solid points lead over the competition. The objective was to ride a smart race, stay out of trouble and bring it home for the championship. Easier said than done, as Havasu is known for being the tightest, roughest and most demanding venue of the AMA BIG6 WCGP race series not to mention stacked with competition from all manufacturers.

Trevor rocketed off the line at the start of the1.5 hour race and quickly positioned himself in second place. Soon after, he made the pass for the lead and settled into a comfortable fast pace. Havasu tends to get busy quickly, as the short laps cause a lot of lapped traffic early on the tight course and positions start to change. As the race wore on Trevor continued to put down solid laps and follow the Team orders placed by manager Johnny Campbell, to not take any unnecessary risks and make sure they were in the right position to win the war. That is exactly what he did, racing conservatively Trevor brought home a top 5- finish and secured his first ever AMA WCGP Big6 GP Championship. Also, noteworthy was the performance of Preston Campbell who capped off the season with a good ride in the 250 Pro class finishing 4th on his CRF250R and earning himself 4th in the 2018 250 pro championship for 2018.

"The 2018 GP season has been really great for the JCR/Honda Team and especially for Trevor Stewart. Trevor has been maturing his race craft and making huge strides in his fitness, riding and mental toughness. Also, my crew has been on point and gelling well. Gage Day has been meticulous on his bike prep and getting to know his riders and race day focus. I want to thank American Honda most of all for their continued, dedicated support of their Factory Offroad racing effort. JCR/Honda is looking forward to a great future, details to be announced soon for 2019 and beyond.” -- Johnny Campbell
